My father took out $5,000 Legacy Select Final Expense Plan with Fidelity Security Life Insurance Company for my mother issued 1/25/2005 (~16 years) and has paid $58.82 every month since (coverage expires 4/14/2023). We were considering surrendering the certificate. We were given 2 options for payout, $3,449.18 or $3,749.00. I estimate she paid into this policy 192 months @ $58.82 = $11,293. It just doesnt seem reasonable that she has overpaid for years, never notified she was overpaying or that we would never get the amount back. I feel because she is elderly, she was taken advantage of. Is there any recourse to receive an overpayment? options for surrendering? joanvgray@***.net.

Resolved: FIDELITY SECURITY LIFE HAS NOT APPROVED OR DENIED MY CLAIM AFTER 6 MONTHS LEAVING ME FINANCIALLY CRIPPLED AND UNABLE TO GET PROPER TREATMENT AND COVER OVERHEAD IN MY TIME OF NEED

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have a disability policy and it has been 6 months (after the 3 month waiting period) to receive an approval or denial on my claim. The Claims Analyst, Ms. Robbie Wait, only ordered "some" of my medical records, insisted I could not provide the others in order to expedite and then said not enough evidence. She then lied about how the providers, that she never ordered these from, were unresponsive. I got proof from these providers that she did not order these until 120 days from the time I submitted my claim and in some cases not at all. I reported Fidelity to the Office of Insurance Regulators in my state and Fidelity lied to this government office, stating all my records were ordered 15 days after I submitted my claim. Per Ms. Wait as well as another person more senior to her, they both believe that 6 months to get an approval or denial is OK, typical and standard - in other words, there is nothing wrong with leaving me without any income for 6 months (9 months when you include the waiting time). As well, my last notice to provide an update explaining why they have taken longer than 30 days (which is per statute) was 4 months ago. Both contacts at this company have been rude, abrasive, condescending to me when I did not deserve it and was trying to get information on what is going on. In contrast, I also had a short term policy with AFLAC, and AFLAC is AWESOME! Their claims handling process is extremely fast and everyone I have spoken to at that company has been very nice, having a caring attitude and have been helpful. I get that AFLAC is an honest and good company and my perception of Fidelity Security Life is that they are dishonest and up to no good. I could be wrong, but this is my perception after dealing with both companies separately. I believe the major difference between the two is the employee attitude towards their clients – AFLAC is there for you when you really need it and Fidelity HAS NOT BEEN THERE FOR ME.

Group Term Life Insurance

In 2010 our company bought group term life from CJA Marketing who used FIDELITY SECURITY LIFE as the carrier We were told the policies were tax deductible and we could overfund The IRS came back and denied deductions and also fined us for not filling 8886 form for Tax Shelter BEWARE and stay away fro FIDELITY SECURITY LIFE they raked in many thousands of dollars in commissions and left us hanging with the IRS. Did not refund anything! CJA has a number of lawsuits filed against them and so has FIDELITY SECUTITY LIFE, these people are bad news. BEWARE!!!! RUN RUN RUN do not buy anything from them!!

Protect yourself DON'T BUY FROM THIS COMPANY

Bought a policy, was not what I had requested. Will not refund money or stop drafts. I was scammed, the agent knew exactly what I wanted as it was replacement policy, very unethical, will not respond to repeated attempts to resolve problem. Life insurance is must, she knew how important this was to my family, I was deceived. It was a complete waste of time and energy. I will go with a local agent, whom I will meet face to face as I ask questions regarding coverage. I would advise everyone not use this company. Don't buy life insurance on line, this company is a joke !!! I now must cancel all automatic withdraws from bank.

Efinancial is the ONE to steer clear of. Rocco, the agent, charged for a policy that was non-existent.

You cannot believe much of what you hear from Efinancial.

They do what it takes to get that commission check. Don't understand why FIDELITY deals with Efinancial...

Fidelity Security Life Ins. - "Contract Breachers"

In November 2006, I purchased a short-term health insurance policy from FSL (http://www.fslins.com) because they are the provider of my alma mater's insurance plan. All application questions were answered accurately and truthfully - qualifying me for coverage. On December 26, 2006, I fell ill and was checked into the hospital from the emergency room. The illness was not pre-existing - and in fact, FSL now states that the issue is not a pre-existing issue (a change from their original position for almost one year). They simply decided to rescind my insurance policy without cause in April of 2007 - effective from the date it was activated on December 1, 2006. They have provided documentation from non-medical resources indicating their "concerns" about a pre-existing condition that they did not ask about in their application (i.e. references from www.answers.com rather than references from American Medical Association, American Heart Assocition, or other noted/respected sources). They still refuse to pay the outstanding bills. I need payment for all bills as contracted in November 2006, as well as payment for my year-long (longer) battle with them to urge them to honor the contract. Their actions have caused other financial harm in terms of credit, interest rates, and otherwise - in addition to lost work. I'm still battling this issue through the Insurance Commissioner's office and reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. I'm still sorting through the best legal firm to handle the case. Warn every alumni group and business about FSL's negligent and unethical practices. Insurance is an important investment because nothing is more important than your health. It's unfortunate that this company seems to feel that money is, in fact, so much more important that they will defend their breach of contract.F
